Inherit Edit Restrictions for Confluence: common questions

When you write, include:

  • Your Confluence site URL.
  • What you expected and what happened.
  • The page id (from the page URL) and, if possible, a screenshot of the relevant row in the app's activity log (Confluence settings > Apps > Inherit edit restrictions).

Common questions:

A new child page did not inherit. Events reach the app with a delay of up to a few minutes. If it still has not changed: check the space's settings tab (Space settings > Integrations > Inherit edit restrictions) for a "needs attention" notice, and that inheritance is on for the space. If the tree is view restricted, the app needs view access: open the top page, choose Inherit edit restrictions from the page menu, and click "Give the app view access".

The app appears as an editor on my pages. That is expected. The app adds its own user so it can keep the page in sync later. Remove it from a page to stop automation for that page.

I want to revert a change. Open the activity log and click Undo on that row. Undo only works while the page still has the editors the app set.

A page shows "Failed: an editor cannot view this page". Confluence requires editors to be able to view the page. Add that person or group to the page's (or its parent's) view restrictions, or remove them from the parent's editors, then run Apply again.

Feature requests and bugs: email us or use the Marketplace "Support" link.

Status: the app runs on Atlassian Forge; see https://status.atlassian.com for platform incidents.
